Saturday saw us clearing Molten Core up to Baron Geddon and on Sunday we cleared to Ragnaros to start learning the encounter. The east coasters had to pull it together and break out more beer and caffeine as Brade extended the raids well past our bed times.

Once Ragnaros despawned we all agreed that we should at least give Onyxia a try. Thirty strong we marched to Dustwallow Marsh to prove we were more than one trick ponies.

For weeks our pursuit of Onyxia has felt like something out of Don Quixote. We’d get all dressed up in our polished armor and fancy mounts. We’d traipse to the dragon’s cave and send our warriors head first at Onyxia only to wake up in some shabby hovel next to a swamp. We might as well have tried to pick a fight with a windmill because Onyxia would have none of what we were bringing. One particular fight saw Onxyia cycle through her secret 5th and 6th stages when she took flight after stage 3 and then landed on top of the few poor souls who were left standing.

Brade was nothing short of a slave driver as he convinced everyone to stay for one last attempt before calling it quits. Given the earlier attempts and the instance oddities that we’d been seeing all night we knew that we had to play as perfectly as possible and bring our A game. The positioning during stage one was on, Onyxia started to inch closer to the left group but we got her in the air before she could do any damage. We corralled the whelps, and DPS’d her down without any deep breaths and headed into stage 3 with strong numbers. Everyone performed admirably as we took it home for the win. She may have evaded us for a few weeks but this win felt better than the first (Clearly obvious from the chat window!).
